YiPPee! Plastic Waste Management Mega Awareness Fair

Part of ITC YiPPee! Better World Program, this initiative reflects ITC’s commitment to foster sustainable behaviours among school children/ Overall, by end of 2025-26, the programme is expected to reach more than 3 million children to create plastic waste management awareness

Mrs. Pranitha, Principal, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), today inaugurated the Plastic Waste Management Mega Awareness Fair as part of YiPPee! Better World CSR program. The event was held at KPS Primary school, Hegganahalli, with support from ITC and implemented by Agastya International Foundation.

The Plastic Waste Management Mega Awareness Fair was conducted to create awareness on plastic pollution and plastic waste among primary & high school students and to encourage sustainable practices such as reduce, reuse, and recycle. This initiative aligns perfectly with YiPPee! Better World’s motto: encouraging kids in enjoyable ways to build a community of change-makers and drive compassionate sustainability from an early age.

The launch event saw the enthusiastic participation of more than 1,000 students from KPS primary school, Hegganahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka along with distribution of over 1,000 Plastic Smart workbooks. The event also included various activities like posters, science models on plastic waste management and showcase on repurposed plastic waste material Key dignitaries present included Mrs. Pranitha, Principal, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Bangalore North,Mr. Swamy, Bangalore South Nodal Officer,Ms. Pramila– Principal, KPS Primary School, Hegganahalli,Mr. Ramesh– Cluster Resource Person (CRP), Hegganahalli,Mr. Umesh, Headmaster, KPS HPS, Hegganahalli

Mrs. Pranitha remarked, “Plastic waste and the need for recycling. Initiatives such as this make learning about sustainability engaging, practical, and enjoyable. I am glad that our collective efforts are helping shape a generation committed to a cleaner and greener Karnataka and India.”

The event engaged students and educators in hands-on learning experiences centered around the 3Rs of waste management: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Since its inception, the YiPPee! Better World program has educated millions of students across India on the importance of plastic waste management and sustainability. The program integrates education, action, and infrastructure, contributing significantly to ITC’s leadership in sustainability and circular economy practices.
