Time and again we have seen how hate-mongers abused, targeted students calling them with names. Dharmendra Pradhan himself called students deshatgard (terrorists). But the Delhi Police never filed a case against Dharmendra Pradhan or arrested him.

Similarly, hate-mongers including RSS-BJP leaders (including BJP MPs) targeted Muslims, Dalits, women, and the marginalized sections and students in general calling them anti-national, terrorists, and what and other shameful slurs, but they were never targeted. Women who participated in the protest are facing rape threats, rape abuses, and a significant online trolling, but none of the people who targeted women are being sent to jail or filed criminal cases against. Delhi Police personnel who use their lathis to assault women in their private parts, grope women, are still roaming free. They have never been filed criminal cases against.

By filing FIRs the BJP is not only violating its own promise of not cracking down on student protestors, but is creating new methods of witchhunt against people who merely raised their voices and expressed their anger. We appeal to the people of this country to stand with students and demand the government to immediately stop criminalizing students and be more tolerant. We must stand united and fight united.
