Left-Ambedkarite Panel Sweeps UoHSU Elections 2026-27

The Left-Ambedkarite alliance of AISA, ASA, DSU, SFI, and TSF- has swept the central panel elections at the University of Hyderabad.

Comrade Sidhant won the Joint Secretary post by a margin of 399 votes. AISA also won two councillor seats: Comrade Sateesh in the School of Social Sciences and Comrade Sanat in the School of Economics. While results for President and Joint Secretary were declared in the early hours of September 30th, the Election Commission has withheld the count for the remaining central panel posts; claiming the Vice Chancellor and Dean of Student Welfare will have final say on a recount for Cultural Secretary, a post the alliance won by just 5 votes. Notably, the DSW has notified results for every post except this one. Students’ elections at HCU are the sole purview of the Election Commission not the administration. The VC and DSW have no role in the election processes. Withholding results is a blatant attempt to sabotage a mandate that has already rejected ABVP. Handing this decision to the administration sets a dangerous precedent: one where power, not votes, decides outcomes. This is a decisive rebuff to ABVP’s inaction and its pro-administration, anti-student politics: reversing last year’s win, which came after a long gap, only because the Left and Ambedkarite forces hadn’t yet united. This year, that alliance not only held but expanded with AISA’s inclusion and the mandate shows it, with ABVP and its allies rejected even at the school level.

This victory also carries the pulse of a nation-wide student movement against the BJP’s failures- the same resolve that forced Dharmendra Pradhan’sresignation. This campus was part of that resistance, and this result reflects it. We extend revolutionary greetings to all alliance partners, and salute every activist, past and present, whose work made this milestone possible. Fascist forces are defeated only through broad, popular unity. Congratulations to Comrade Dilshada (President), Comrade Pratik (General Secretary), Comrade Nithin (Vice President), and all elected candidates. We also thank the student community for thier trust and support. AISA reaffirms its resolve for a socially sensitive, gender-just, inclusive campus- one where students can debate and dissent freely and resolves to continue its unfliching political commitment for the same.
