Students at Jamia Millia Islamia are holding a General Body Meeting at the Ghalib Lawn with the agenda of ensuring that the JMISU elections are notified and brought back to the university.
The General Body Meeting has been called for by multiple students’ organisations and concerned students of Jamia in support of the ongoing hunger strike and struggle for notifying the union. Students in their hundreds have joined and are currently participating in the proceedings of a democratic general body meeting. Students turned out in large numbers even as the Jamia administration held a counter protest march at the same time against the ongoing protests. Students of the university will not be silenced by such tactics, we will fight for and take the union back. This massive turnout is a mandate to carry on the struggle for the union and resolutions concerning the shape and form of the union will be taken up in the meeting.
