Gurgaon-based teenager Vihaan Jain has brought laurel to the country by making his mark on the international golfing stage. The 16-year-old recently secured his first title on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) circuit, winning the AJGA Preview tournament held at OakWing Golf Club in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States ON 13th March 2026.

In what was his debut appearance at an AJGA event, Vihaan finished with an overall score of 4-under-par (212), with rounds of 72, 68, and 72 on a challenging 6,842-yard course. The final moments of the tournament were closely contested, but he held his nerve and sealed the win with a birdie on the 18th hole—becoming the first Indian to win this particular event.
This victory adds to what has already been a promising year for the young golfer. Earlier in February 2026, Vihaan won the Indian Amateur Qualifier at the ITC Classic in dramatic fashion. He made an eagle on the final hole to push the match into a playoff and then secured the win with a composed birdie.
Vihaan’s journey reflects consistent progress on the global junior circuit. He has previously recorded a Top-15 finish at the IMG Junior World Championship and a Top-20 finish at the FCG International Junior Championship. He has also delivered back-to-back Top-20 medalist finishes at the U.S. Kids Golf Teen World Championships in 2024 and 2025.

Speaking on his achievement, Vihaan Jain said, “I’m really happy to have won my first AJGA event—it means a lot, especially in my first appearance. I’m grateful to my coaches for their guidance, my parents for their constant support, and the organisers for a great tournament. This just motivates me to keep working harder and improving my game and make my country proud on international platforms.”
Balancing academics alongside sport, Vihaan is currently a student at Laurel Springs School, maintaining an impressive GPA of 3.97. His performances have also earned him a place within the Top 1500 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and among the Top 400 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard.
With his recent win in the United States, Vihaan continues to build momentum as he works towards his long-term goal of playing collegiate golf in the U.S. His progress is being closely watched as he represents a new generation of Indian golfers stepping confidently onto the global stage.
