The dawn of the third consecutive day of the indefinite hunger strike marked an intensifying battle for the future of public education. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, six student leaders from the AISA and 12 other students entered their 3rd day of total fast. They stand resolutely against an incompetent and indifferent Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan,. Senior Advocate, Prashant Bhushan visited the protest site and extended his solidarity to all those sitting on hunger strike. Prashant Bhushan especially visited the AISA activists on strike and reiterated that the struggle to save democracy and demand basic accountability demands immense sacrifice in these times. Saluting the their resolve to fight tooth and nail against an unaccountable, dictatorial government he highlighted their struggle serves as an inspiration for the entire democratic collective of this nation.

With the extreme heat wave and prolonged starvation taking a severe physical toll, regular medical checkups have been scheduled at the site. Our team of doctors visited the site today to monitor the health of those on strike. There has been a drop in blood pressure for most of the activists, signaling acute dehydration and physical exhaustion, and other variations signalling an increased bodily strain.
