Amidst the wave of GenZ movements across the nation AISA & SFI have come together to advance the spirit of youthful zeal in the arena of DUSU.
Today marks the declaration of the AISA-SFI joint panel in DUSU, with candidates, Ananya, Akshat, Stanzin & Parijaat, who will embody the alternative politics in the fight for a new, student-led DUSU against money and muscle politics.
Ananya Raturi (AISA) for President!
Ananya Raturi, hailing from Uttarakhand has been one of the most fierce women voices at the campus. She led the movement against sexual harrasment at IPCW which resulted in a proctorial inquiry on the administration. Her fight in the movement against Arun Attri, the principal of SBSC who assaulted a Dalit student sent waves in the University. In 2025, Ananya was alone attacked by Aryan Maan’s team when she confronted him about his hypermasculine and muscle based politics in RLA College. This time Ananya is representing the same vigour as the presidential candidate of the AISA-SFI alliance in DUSU, aiming to uphold and fight for the vision of an accessible and affordable DU.
Akshat Shikhar (AISA) for Vice President!
Akshat Shikhar who hails from Allahabad prepared for the NEET UG 2026 exam only to later find out that the exam has been leaked and cancelled. Infuriated at the system, Akshat joined the protests at Jantar Mantar and eventually was active the whole time in AlSA’s 23 day hunger strike in solidarity with Sonam Wanghuk. Akshat took admission in Motilal Nehru College and has decided to take up the spirit of Jantar Mantar inside the University. As the Vice Presidential Candidate of the AISA-SFI alliance for DUSU, Akshat carries forward the spirit and confidence of an activist shaped by the student movement of Jantar Mantar, aiming to carry forward the tasks of making a truly student centric and student led DUSU.
Stanzin Deskyong (SFI) for Secretary!
Stanzin Deskyong is a first-year MSc Mathematics student from Hindu College and an experienced student leader. She completed her undergraduate education at Ramjas College, where she served as the Vice President of the Ramjas College Students’ Union. She is the first Ladakhi student to contest DUSU elections. She comes from an ST community from Leh, Ladakh. During her tenure as Vice President, Ramjas College, Stanzin played a leading role in the movement demanding accountability and the resignation of Prof. Dhani Ram, a professor accused of harassing students and women faculty members. She stood with students and faculty in their demand for a campus free from harassment, intimidation and abuse of authority. As the Secretary candidate for the AISA-SFI alliance in DUSU, her experiences in student union leadership and her role in organising students around issues of safety, dignity and accountability demonstrate her commitment to defending students’ rights and making the university a more democratic and inclusive space.
B Parijaat (SFI) for Joint Secretary!
B Parijat is a first-year MA English student from Hansraj College with a strong record of student leadership and cultural engagement. He completed his undergraduate studies at PGDAV College, where he served as the President of the Literary Society and was actively involved in the college’s theatre society. Parijat belongs to a farmers’ family from the region known as the sugar bowl of India, Western Uttar Pradesh. During his undergraduate years, Parijat was closely involved in student initiatives and campus life. He played an active role in ensuring that physical classes were conducted for MA English students at a time when the university was following a hybrid mode of teaching, standing up for students’ right to accessible and meaningful classroom education. As the Joint Secretary candidate from the AISA-SFI panel in DUSU, his experience in student organisations, cultural activities and struggles for students’ academic rights reflects a commitment to building a more democratic and student-oriented university.
