Canonicus Capital Closes ₹200 Crore Private Equity Fund Focused on NCR Real Estate

Canonicus Capital, under the leadership of Rajan Gupta, has announced the successful closure of its private equity fund with committed capital of ₹200 crore. The fund is dedicated to investing in high-impact, high-potential real estate opportunities across the National Capital Region (NCR). The fund will primarily focus on opportunities offering strong downside protection, secure structures, and high-return visibility. Investment priorities include last-mile completion financing and short-term bridge funding structured as pre-launch debt segments where capital plays a critical role in enabling timely project delivery.

Speaking on the fund strategy, Rajan Gupta, Director of Canonicus Capital, said, Private equity comes with high hurdle-rate expectations. To deliver those returns responsibly, we intend to back projects where capital acts as a catalyst for timely delivery and value unlocking. Canonicus Capital is open to acquiring marquee under-development assets that can ultimately be sold to REITs, given the evolving appetite of global institutional investors. Pension funds are still cautious about development risk but continue to pay a premium for fully developed, rental-yielding assets. That creates a strong opportunity for sponsors who can take projects from mid-stage to completion, Further he added.  With this fund closure, Canonicus Capital positions itself among the few private equity platforms in India with a focused strategy on structured credit, operational turnaround, and value creation within the real estate sector.
