The Satyaniketan building collapse that has claimed numerous lives and has left multiple students injured and still missing has come as an avoidable, manufactured disaster at the hands of an institutional and corrupt administrative failure.

In this regard AISA has given the call of “Chalo Satyaniketan” and set up a dharna at the site demanding justice and a proper response to this failure. We have four crucial demands. Ensure Accountability By Holding Those Involved As Responsible. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta hand in hand with the BJP’s MCD must be held primarily responsible for this failure. We demand the resignation of the Delhi CM for the loss of lives and damage. However, accountability must also be extended to the absolute failure and incompetancy of the DU VC and ABVP led DUSU for their inability to provide hostel facilities to the students, leaving them at mercy of such private PG owners.

We demand a compensation of at least 1 crore rupees alongside immediate support for all victims and their families. Proper Safety Audits and Punishment For Violating Owners. Time bound comprehensive safety audits of all PGs, hostels and student residences accross Delhi must be properly undertaken. PG owners leasing unsafe infrastructures must be jailed and taken action proprr action against. Rent regulation must be implemented properly. Hostels For All Students. The root of the problem, unaffordable, blatantly absent hostel facilities for students in DU must be urgently addressed. DU administration must ensure hostel accommodation in every college of DU. Students must not be forced into unsafe and exploitative PGs. Demand Accountability and Justice,Rekha Gupta Must Resign,AISA
