HC Directs National Commission of SC to Decide on the Complaint filed by Dhananjay against comments made by JNU VC

Today, Dhananjay,former JNUSU President, AISA Bihar President, and a JNU student from the School of Arts and Aesthetics approached the Hon’ble Delhi High Court through our counsel Govind Manoharan along with advocate Devahuti Pathak.

He requested that the Hon’ble High Court direct the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) to take action on a complaint he filed on 24th February 2026. The complaint before the NCSC was against the anti-Dalit and racist remarks by JNU Vice Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit against people of colour during protests demanding the implementation of UGC equity guidelines. Upon hearing the petition, the Hon’ble High Court passed an order directing the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to decide the complaint in a time-bound manner preferably within the next eight weeks.

The NCSC had been sitting on the complaint despite multiple reminders and the submission of video evidence featuring the Vice-Chancellor’s remarks from The Sunday Guardian podcast. Given this inaction, Dhananjay approached the Hon’ble High Court, which has now ordered the NCSC to decide the complaint preferably within a period of eight weeks. The Hon’ble Court also clarified that it had expressed no opinion on the merits of the case.

We will remain vigilant and continue to pursue our case to hold the JNU Vice-Chancellor accountable and demand her resignation over her anti-Dalit remarks and the damage caused to JNU. The order copy is awaited. AISA
