ITC Maratha, Mumbai, has been recognised among India’s favourite hotels for sustainable practices at the Condé Nast Traveller India Readers’ Travel Awards 2026.The recognition highlights the hotel’s continued commitment to integrating responsible practices into luxury hospitality, with sustainability forming an integral part of its everyday operations.

Over the past decade, ITC Maratha has introduced several initiatives focused on resource conservation and responsible hospitality. The hotel reuses or recycles over 99% of its solid waste, meets approximately 80% of its energy requirements through renewable sources and uses 47% less water than the USGBC benchmark for large luxury hotels. Its in-house biogas plant converts organic waste into kitchen fuel, diverting approximately one lakh kilograms of waste from landfills. The hotel also holds the LEED Zero Carbon Certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). Further extending these efforts across its operations, ITC Maratha promotes responsible dining, locally sourced menus through Green Banquets, rainwater harvesting across 100% of its area and in-house drinking water purification through its Sunya Aqua initiative.

These efforts reflect the hotel’s ongoing commitment to making sustainability an integral part of the luxury hospitality experience.
