The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) stands in firm solidarity with the people of Nepal following the devastating flash floods that have struck the country.
Many lives have been lost, and hundreds of people from both Nepal and India remain out of contact with their families. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy. We appeal to the Government of India to extend every possible form of support – relief, rescue, and rehabilitation – to the people of Nepal in this hour of crisis. We also note with concern the danger of floodwaters reaching the border districts of Bihar. We urge the Government of Bihar to take all necessary precautionary measures on a war footing to protect human lives and livestock, and to ensure the safety of vulnerable communities along the border.
