New Delhi, — The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued strict directions to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), State Wetland Authority of Delhi (DSWLA), and the District Magistrate (West) for immediate action regarding removal of encroachments and restoration of five water bodies in Village Mundka.

During the hearing of O.A. No. 311/2022 (Dr. Jeet Singh Yadav vs. Govt. of NCT of Delhi & Ors.), the Tribunal expressed strong dissatisfaction with the delays in demarcation and identification of encroachments despite clear Supreme Court and NGT orders issued over the past two decades.

Key Directions Issued by the NGT:
DDA and District Magistrate (West) must complete demarcation of all ponds in Khasra Nos. 178/1, 373/1, 142, 163, and 17/27 within 15 days, identifying all encroachments with names and details of encroachers.
DDA must submit a detailed Action Plan within six weeks, covering:
Rejuvenation measures
Budget allocation
Timeline for completion
Nodal officers responsible for monitoring
DSIIDC must file its Action Plan for revival of the water body in Khasra No. 17/27, as its earlier development plan was unreadable.
State Wetland Authority must submit a comprehensive compliance report, specifying:
Status of demarcation
Action taken on failure of land-owning agencies
Compliance with Wetlands Rules, 2017
Failure to comply may result in imposition of costs and compulsory appearance of senior officers, including:
Vice Chairman, DDA
Managing Director, DSIIDC
Member Secretary, DSWLA
District Magistrate (West)
The matter is listed for next hearing on 15 January 2026.
