
Noida: The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will celebrate its 36th Foundation Day on 23rd November 2025 at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi. The Foundation Day will be graced by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, as the Chief Guest.
Shri Sanjay Kumar (IAS), Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, will attend the event as the Guest of Honour, while Ms Prachi Pandey (IA&AS), Joint Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, will be present as the Distinguished Guest.

NIOS is one of the two national boards under the Ministry of Education providing school education through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. It offers Open Basic Education (OBE), secondary, senior secondary, and vocational education, ensuring flexible, accessible, and inclusive learning opportunities for diverse sections of society.
For the past 36 years, NIOS has been a driving force in democratizing education, implementing a flexible and innovative learner-centric model that enables access for those beyond the reach of conventional schooling.
As part of the celebrations, NIOS will showcase its 36-year journey of growth and achievements through an exhibition of its various academic programmed and Self Learning Materials. The Hon’ble Union Education Minister will also release new NIOS courses and Self Learning Material during the event.
The ceremony will witness the presence of Prof. Akhilesh Mishra, Chairman, NIOS, along with the Secretary, Heads of Departments, officers, and staff of the Institute.
