He has special expertise in doing minimal invasive Brain and Spine surgery so that patient should have minimal pain and should walk and should come back to normal daily activities at the earliest. He was the first junior doctor to learn and use neuronavigation at Apollo Hospitals Chennai and presented the experience at different national and international meetings.He is known for performing complex surgeries of Brain and spine. He enjoys doing different types of epilepsy surgery, a complex neurosurgical procedure for seizure disorder; he likes doing awake craniotomy – a surgery for eloquent and important areas of brain without usual anesthesia (complete unconsciousness) of the patient rather talking to the patient while doing surgery on his brain; he; he enjoys long surgeries like complex brain tumor excision or spine surgeries like kypho scoliosis correction and facio -maxillary advancement. At the same time he also sympathize with the patients not able to get the treatment on time due to various reasons. To pacify his own heart he founded Sushila Hare Krishna Environment International (SHKEI) Trust and Shri Hare Krishna Enterprises International (SHKEI) Company and started a hospital dedicated to Brain and Spine Surgery where he can treat the patients to his satisfaction.
He does endoscopic brain and spine surgeries like surgery for pituitary macro adenoma TNTS, Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy (ETV), colloid cysts, CSF leaks, and skull base tumors. He has special interest in doing aneurysm clipping, AVM (arterio venous malformation) excision, surgeries for cerebello-pontine (CP) angle tumors like Schwannoma, meningioma, dermoid and epidermoids. Born in a humble family in a village in Bihar, he was fascinated towards neurosurgery at a very young age simply because it is one of the demanding surgeries. His childhood experiences in his village are his strength. He liked surgery for epilepsy in his childhood, and now as a grown up neurosurgeon, functional neurosurgery like epilepsy surgery, microvascular decompression (MVD) for trigeminal neuralgia, hemi facial spasm, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, are his choicest neurosurgical procedures. Doing usual neurosurgical procedure like for brain injury and spine injury, hydrocephalus, Congenital brain and spine diseases like encephalocoeles, meningo- myelocoele, tethered cord, Arnold chiari malformation and others with perfection and impunity and taking care of the patients before and after surgery with great sympathy and love is his habit. Brain and spine surgery for children like Ventriculo – Peritoneal (VP) shunt, tumor surgery, spine deformity correction, spina bifida surgery are his favorite surgeries. He makes good team with ophthalmologist, ENT surgeon, onco surgeon, plastic surgeon, anesthetist, radiologist, ICU and operation theatre teams and all other doctors for the welfare of the patients. He takes part in radiosurgery with radiation oncologist. In addition to being an extensively trained, skilled and well experienced neurosurgeon he is a gentleman with profuse humanitarian attitude which can be noticed by one and all.
