AUDSC KP members Meets Pellet Gun Victim Prashant Kumar Singh

On July 20th, during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ gathering at Jantar Mantar, peaceful demonstrations erupted into chaos as Delhi Police and RAF unleashed unprecedented brutality upon protesting students and citizens.

Among the victims of this violent crackdown was Prashant Kumar Singh, a twenty-five year old visual arts student at Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD), and a native of Bihar. In the aftermath of this harrowing incident, AUDSC KP Treasurer Vivek and CC Member Mrinalini met with Prashant to extend their unconditional support, offering tangible assistance and standing in unwavering solidarity with him and all AUD students who fell victim to police brutality.

Prashant was struck on the right side of his arm, neck, and chest by what he recalled as “arrow-like shots,” and was left temporarily paralyzed by shock and pain. Collapsing to the ground, he experienced a complete blackout for several minutes amidst the chaos. AUDSC KP stands in absolute solidarity with Prashant and every other student who endured the brutal police crackdown on July 20th. The courage displayed by students in the face of such lethal force is a testament to their resilience.

With the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, we remain steadfast in our demand for accountability for scrapping NTA, repealing NEP 2020, the preservation of democratic spaces, and strict action against the officials responsible for deploying pellet guns against the protesting youth.
