Shame on the Samrat Choudhary government for its failure to ensure the safety and dignity of women!
AISA joined the JNUSU call for an effigy-burning protest against Samrat Choudhary over the sexual harassment case in Jamui, Bihar, demanding justice for the survivor and accountability from those in power. In the aftermath of this horrific incident, BJP minister and Jamui MLA Shreyasi Singh openly defended the idea that moral policing could be carried out in an “elegant” manner.
Such statements are deeply disturbing and raise serious questions about the mindset of those entrusted with protecting women’s rights and dignity. Moral policing is not protection. It is an attack on women’s freedom and autonomy. When those in power defend moral policing instead of standing with survivors, they create an environment in which perpetrators can feel emboldened and survivors are left to fight for justice.
