In a case that has shook Tamil Nadu, granite industry baron “Gem Granite” Veeramani has recently been arrested for sexual abuse of multiple minors. The case has also exposed how Veeramani has enjoyed de facto immunity from legal norms through out the years and a system entrenched in corruption. The Greater Chennai Police on August 29, had identified that the person seen in the video that was submitted along with pen drive was Veeramani.
According to a report in The Hindu, a senior police officer said that Veeramani’s female aide, Shanthi’s alleged role could be compared with that of Ghislaine Maxwell (in Jeffrey Epstein’s case), who was convicted for facilitating the sexual abuse of minors.
