A Bamboo-based skilling and entrepreneurship centre in Jawhar to train 350 tribal women over three years
Roshani – a CSR initiative by the RR Kabel, in partnership with Keshav Srushti, inaugurated the Mahila Swavlamban Kendra, a dedicated Common Facility Centre for tribal women. The center was inaugurated by Smt. Ratnidevi Rameshwarlal Kabra of the RR Global Group and is located at Keshav Srushti Oxygen Park, Balkapara, Jawhar, Palghar district, Maharashtra. The Kendra will train 350 tribal women over three years in bamboo-based skills, product development and entrepreneurship. It gives them access to a shared working facility and to opportunities to develop and market eco-friendly bamboo products. The aim is to help women build sustainable livelihoods close to home, strengthening their economic independence and contributing to rural entrepreneurship and local employment.
Mrs. Kirti Kabra, Director, RR Global, said, “At Roshani, we believe that empowering lives begins with giving people the means to stand on their own. Tribal women have the skill, patience and resilience to build enterprises, and what they often lack is a place to learn, work and sell. Bamboo is rooted in our culture and in its people’s traditions, which makes it a natural way to create livelihoods that stay local and sustainable. The Mahila Swavlamban Kendra is our commitment to giving these women that opportunity, close to their homes and families.” Adding his thoughts, Mr. Santosh Gaikwad, Joint Secretary, Keshav Srushti, said, “For the women in Palghar, this Kendra is more than a training centre. It is a place where they can learn together, create together and take pride in what they make. We are grateful to Roshani and RR Kabel for standing with us. Together, we hope to help 350 tribal women turn a traditional resource into steady income and a future built on their own skill.”
As the center kick-starts its mission, tribal families in the region can look forward to strengthening their local incomes and supporting the broader movement of promoting handicraft and sustainable products.
