AISA JMI joins to stand in solidarity with the J&K Girls’ Hostel Residents continuing their protest against administrative malpractice in food provided in mess/dining system.
On 9:30 P.M. 11-09-2026, protests by J&K Girls’ Hostel Students have been resumed due to back off by administration from the demands they accepted in written to commence the last protest. Today, breakfast was not provided in morning and lunch was being provided late after 3 P.M. When lunch was being provided, male staff was still in mess and the students were asked to write their names and mobile number if they want to take food. Resident students stood against such attempts which would be later used for surveillance and targeting against the students so any further protests or demand for better food quality shall be suppressed for continuation of corrupt practices in dining service.
It has come to students’ notice that the contractor wasn’t changed but just the name of contractor was changed with the same person providing food under contract. The same person has been given food contract since 2023 and earlier protests were held in 2023 for his removal. Still his contract sustained and even after last protests in which administration accepted the demands in written, contractor hasn’t been removed. Further students protesting and giving their testimonies to media were targeted by administrative harassment.
Further during the protest, Proctoral team did a cowardly attempt by switching off the lights of Centenary Gate to intimidate the protesting students. We strongly stand against such cowardly way of dealing with protesting students. Students reinstate their demands : Cancellation of Contract of current Vendor. Assurance of female staff only in J&K Girls’ Hostel Mess. Resignation of Provost and Warden of J&K Girls’ Hostel. Assurance of no witch hunting or administrative targeting to take place against the students., AISA
