Shyam Metalics Foundation, the CSR arm of Shyam Metalics & Energy Limited, has strengthened emergency healthcare infrastructure in Jamuria with the addition of five new ambulances to improve access to timely medical transportation for communities across the region.
The ambulances were formally flagged off at a programme held at the Bijon High School football ground in Jamuria in the presence of senior administrative and police officials, elected representatives and representatives of Shyam Metalics. The initiative is aimed at strengthening emergency response capabilities in Jamuria, particularly for residents in rural settlements and industrial areas where timely access to healthcare facilities remains an important requirement. The five ambulances will be strategically stationed at different locations in coordination with the local police and administration to facilitate faster response and improve accessibility during medical emergencies. The initiative is part of Shyam Metalics Foundation’s broader community development efforts in Jamuria, with a focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving access to essential services for communities in and around the company’s areas of operation.
Speaking at the programme, Dr Bijon Mukherjee, MLA, Jamuria, highlighted the importance of strengthening emergency medical services in the region. He noted that collaboration between the administration, industry and elected representatives can play an important role in addressing local healthcare infrastructure requirements. The programme was attended by Pranav Kumar, IPS, Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissioner; S. Ponnambalam, IAS, District Magistrate, Paschim Bardhaman; Dr Bijon Mukherjee, MLA; Sumit Chakraborty, Director – Corporate Affairs, Shyam Metalics; Surya Kumar Maiti, Plant Manager, Shyam Metalics, along with other company officials, administrative representatives and local stakeholders. The District Magistrate emphasised the importance of collaboration between the administration and industrial establishments in implementing community-oriented CSR initiatives. He highlighted that such partnerships can help identify local requirements and channel corporate resources towards projects that deliver direct public benefit.

The company has undertaken several initiatives aimed at strengthening local healthcare infrastructure and improving access to essential services for communities around its areas of operation.” For Jamuria, one of West Bengal’s prominent industrial belts, the addition of five ambulances is expected to strengthen the existing emergency response network and support timely medical transportation for residents across the area.
